A workshop on Stand up comedy 101. Koothu refers to a Sociopolitical-Religious art performed as a solo narrative performance of ‘Vidushaka’ or the wise jester. It is a highly refined monologue where the performer narrates episodes from Hindu epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata Puranas. It as a form of entertainment reached its peak hundreds of years ago. Chakyar Koothu, also a traditional equivalent of the modern stand-up comedy act, incorporating commentary on current events and personal comments directed at the members of the audience.
