Tamilnadu has a vibrant documentary culture with a wide range of style and politics. Some of the filmmakers from Tamilnadu are well known outside both Tamilnadu and India, travelling very regularly to film festivals, film schools and workshops. They have won many awards, fans, support and funding across the world. Some of their works are very local, some are very international, some are strikingly in the face, some are subtle, some are observational, some are avant-garde and some are simple and straight forward. Marupakkam is a package that celebrates this culture, which is very independent, adventurous and fluid.
