The M.V. Lagoons rises tall with sparkling bright white and blue paint.  The majestic ship has eight decks and is a 400 passenger capacity ship.  With about 60 crewmembers and captained by P.K. Chacko, the M.V. Lagoons takes passengers between Kochi and Lakshadweep islands. But for one day, you didn't need tickets to get on board. The ship was open for the public to explore as part of the Port Day Celebrations.

A yearly event falling on May 26th,  organized by the Cochin Port Trust, Port Day Celebrations acknowledge 25 companies that have shown excellence in their area. It includes mostly cargo ships and a few passenger ships.  In addition to the ship visit and award ceremony, cultural activities were held.
