14 Movies To Hit The Screens This April 14

When festivals combine, what better way to spend some time with your family than having a movie marathon

A culmination of different occasions, April 14 is a much awaited holiday for many. Good Friday, Ambedkar Jayanti and Vishu have all, fortunately or unfortunately( for those who work on a Saturday) have all landed on a same day, which is also a Friday. So, for the long weekend ahead, here is a list of movies -with language, culture and genre no bar- that will be out on Friday. Head to a nearest theatre and watch them all!

Avarude Raavukal (Malayalam)

Cast: Unni Mukundan, Asif Ali, Vinay Forrt, Nedumudi Venu, Aju Varghese, Honey Rose
Synopsis: Directed by Shanil Muhammed and produced by Ajay Krishna, Avarude Ravukal is a movie that focuses on three youngsters who come from different places to Kochi and stays together in an old man’s house. The movie, with cinematography done by Vishnu Narayanan and edited by Prejish Prakash, progresses as unexpected events take place in their lives in the new city.

Sathya (Malayalam)

Cast: Jayaram, Parvathy Nambiar, Roma, Aju Varghese, Sudheer Karamana, Rahul Dev
Synopsis: Directed by the late Diphan, and produced by Firoz Shaheed, this movie is an action-thriller that revolves around the protagonist from Kerala who goes to Pondicherry and becomes very successful in life through gambling. But, because of this, he also makes a lot of enemies. With music by Gopi Sunder, cinematography by Bharani K Dharan, and words by AK Sajan, the plot progresses further by depicting various incidents that happen due to gambling.

Kadamban (Tamil)

Cast: Arya, Catherine Tresa, YG Mahendran
Synopsis: With Naveen Raghavan’s direction and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Kadamban is an action-adventure movie, and Arya plays the role of a tribal man, for which he had to gain some weight. The same movie will release as Gajendrudu in Telugu.

Sivalinga (Tamil)

Cast: Raghavendra Lawrence, Ritika SIngh, Vadivelu, Radha Ravi, Urvashi
Synopsis: The movie is rumoured to be an action horror comedy film directed by P Vasu, music by S Thaman,cinematography by Sarvesh Murari and edited by Suresh Urs. The movie is said to be a remake of a Kannada movie with the same name.

Power Paandi (Tamil)

Cast: Rajkiran, Chaya Singh, Prasanna, Madonna Sebastian, Revathi, Vidyullekha Raman
Synopsis: Actor, producer and lyric writer Dhanush has made his long pending directorial debut with 'Power Paandi' that will have Raj Kiran in the lead role. 'The story is about stunt artists in film industry. Dhanush will be penning the lyrics for all the songs composed by music director Sean Roldon. Velraj is handling the Cinematography, while GK Prasanna is the editor.

Lanka(Telugu)

Cast: Sai Ronak, Ena Saha, Raasi
Synopsis: Director Srimuni is surely relying on uncanny looks and psychic elements like Telepathy in this thriller.  Raasi, with her suspicious looks and two shades, seems to be complementing the story line's strength. Ina Saaha and Sai Ronak are seen in the other key roles.  The former seems to be facing mysterious situations, while the latter rubbishes any beliefs in God and Evil.

Mister (Telugu)

Cast: Varun Tej, Lavanya Tripathi, Hebah Patel, Harish Uthaman, Nassar
Synopsis: Mister is a romantic entertainer that deals with a love story which includes a lot of action, this movie is directed by Srinu Vaitla and produced by Nallamalapu Srinivas and Tagore Madhu while Mickey J Meyer scored music for this movie. 

Chakravarthy (Kannada)

Cast: Darshan Thogudeep, Deepa Sannidhi, Dinakar Thogudeepa, Srujan Lokesh
Synopsis: Chakravarthy is an undercurrent action-thriller based on the grey world. With the tagline, 'a rare combination of brain and crime, Chakravarthy, directed by debutant Chinthan is an unusual showcase of the underworld, balanced with family emotions, underlined with the relationship between a husband and a wife. The movie is produced by SIddhant, edited by KM Prakash, with music by Arjun Janya.

Manje Bistre (Punjabi)

Cast: Gippy Grewal, Sonam Bajwa, Gurpreet Chuggi, Rana Ranbir
Synopsis: It is a light hearted flick which revolves around a Punjabi wedding, with elements of romance and comedy. A fictional presentation, this one is based on the rituals of a Punjabi wedding. The dialogues of this movie are penned by Rana Ranbir and the story is written by Gippy Grewal. It is directed by Baljit Singh Deo.

One (Bengali)

Cast: Prosenjit Chatterjee, Nusrat Jahan, Yash Dasgupta, Rachel White
Synopsis: One is essentially a modern retelling of the eternal conflict between good and evil. Yash Dasgupta plays an honest police officer, whose sole aim in life is to destroy corruption in every form. In his lifelong battle against evil, he comes across his archenemy- an unscrupulous businessman - whose brutality knows no bounds. The story, written by Abhimanyu Mukherjee is directed by Birsa Dasgupta and produced by Shrikant Mohta & Mahendra Soni.

Saha Gun (Marathi)

Cast: Amruta Subhash,Archit Deodhar, Sunil Barve, Bhushan Pradhan
Synopsis:  The movie, directed by Kiran Sabaji Gawade, is about a 14-year-old Vidya Sarvade is caught in the rigorous time schedule of his studies and has no place for leisure and entertainment. His father, a research scientist in NASA, has no time to invest in his child, hence he is solely brought up by his mother, who bombards him with over expectations and wants him to stretch his abilities. Vidya gains appreciation and love from his teachers for his hard work.

Begum Jaan (Hindi)

Cast: Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Gauhar Khan, Ila Arun, Chunky Pandey
Synopsis: Directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Mahesh and Vishesh Bhatt, Begum Jaan is a story of 11 fearless women standing up against the system, amidst the changing political scenario during the partition.

Junoon- Once upon a time in Calcutta (Hindi)

Cast: Hansi Parmar, Ritesh Raghuvanshi, Alia Khan, Deepak Soni
Synopsis: The movie, directed by Kumaar Adarsh, and produced by Jaya Patwa is about a journalist and her journey. Junoon deals with patriotism, communism and instances of the Naxal Movement that once prevailed in Calcutta, now known as Kolkata. 

Aftermath (English)

Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maggie Grace, Kevin Zegers, Hannah Ware
Synopsis: The movie, directed by Elliott Lester and produced by Eric Watson & George Furia, is about two strangers lives become inextricably bound together after a devastating plane crash. Inspired by actual events, Aftermath tells a story of guilt and revenge after an air traffic controllers error causes the death of a construction foreman's wife and daughter.
