Here are five things you must know about Thaikkudam Bridge before you catch them live today at Durbar Hall Ground in Kochi as they perform for the closing ceremony of the Kochi Muziris Biennale

How Thaikkudam Bridge came into existence

The band came into existence back in 2013 when cousins Govind Menon and Siddharth Menon decided to go all out and show the world their music and talent. The name for the band was decided based on the fact that the whole gang used to chill and practice at an apartment near Thaikkudam Bridge.

The rise to fame

The band was unstoppable after they first appeared on the show Music Mojo by Kappa TV. Their original soundtrack Fish Rock was a huge hit, after it was circulated through social networking sites. Govind admits he had help from his sister for the lyrics of Fish Rock. They then began performing live and then toured the world for live shows.

The journey so far

Ever since their first live show in 2014, the band gained immense popularity among teens and older people alike. Since they don’t have any particular genre, they have a lot of people who like their music and their renditions of popular songs. Within a day of creating it, the official Facebook page of the band gained 1000 likes and in a short span of 4 months, the page crossed over 100,000 likes.

The band and their members

The band’s line-up is — lead guitarist Mithun Raju, Ashok Nelson on rhythm guitars, Vipin Lal is vocalist, Christin Jose, also a vocalist, Ruthin Thej on keyboards, Abin Thej on drums, Piyush Kapoor as both vocalist and guitarist, Vian Fernandez as bass guitarist, Krishna Bongane and Nila Madhav Mohapatra for Hindustani vocalists, Govind P. Anish TN, Bansari M, Gagan, Amit Bal, Rajan KS and Hemanth are the latest additions to the growing band.

Siddharth Menon and Thaikkudam Bridge

Once an integral part of the band’s success, Siddharth Menon recently quit the band temporarily to pursue his solo career in music and acting.
