Ramu Kochattil makes his foray into painting after a long stint in the world of advertising. As an art director he served leading advertising agencies in India and abroad. His passion for creative art began during his formal training from the Universal School of Fine Arts Kozhikode, Kerala. He has participated in a few group exhibitions and his first solo exhibition Warming Earth was held at Durbar Hall Art Gallery, Kochi.

A LIVABLE PLANET EARTH seems a distant dream as the natural world ceases to mean very little to mankind. Mankind's quest for development is slowly destroying the wonderful heritage of the natural world, upsetting the equation of the natural world and the human world. The notion that man must tread lightly on earth to establish equitatable relationships among ourselves, so that some parts of the world are not forced to deteriorate to nurture others is fast disappearing and artificial life is gradually coming to colonize the entire universe. His paintings are a reflection of altered everyday life and practices through a multitude of subjects harping on the concern for the world of the natural getting altered making ordinary human life unlivable as we surround ourselves by a well designed cocoon of virtual reality.

WARMING EARTH is the artist's engagements with these concerns reflecting the function of the position in the cosmic system of planet earth, which is a part of the solar system, making the sun central to all living creatures on this planet and to life itself. The artist dabbles with charcoal, a symbolic manifestation of natural medium combined with a small tinge of the artificial underlining the fact that artificiality has become a way of life.
