Apoorva Bose made her debut in Vineeth Srinivasan’s Malarvadi Arts Club in 2010. With a few acting stints since then in films like Pranayam, Padmasree Bharat Dr. Saroj Kumar, the actress is returning to the silver screen with director Shyamaprasad upcoming venture Hey Jude. She acts along with the big names of the industry like Nivin Pauly and Trisha.

How did you get the offer for Hey Jude?

I have done a few movies earlier, after which I took a break to concentrate on my studies. But I remained active in modelling. Recently, Shyamaprasad sir came across my recent photoshoots and that’s how he offered me an opportunity with Hey Jude.

What is your character in the film?

I am acting as Nivin Pauly’s sister in this movie. My character’s name is Andrea, who is a happy-go-lucky kind of a girl. She is smart, active, and fits the bill of a young, modern girl. The movie is mainly shot in Goa and Kochi. Apart from Nivin and Trisha, Siddique, Neena Kurup, and Vijay Menon are the other main cast.

You have acted with Nivin in Malarvadi Arts Club. After a gap of seven long years, you are now working with him again.  He is now a big star in the South Indian film industry. Do you feel any difference working with him now? How was your experience?

No, I didn’t feel any difference in working with him after so many years. We used to meet often for a lot of functions. I had a very good time with the crew of Hey Jude while shooting.

Shyamaprasad is a well-known director. Tell us your experience of working with him?

It was an honour to work with Shyam sir. He is super patient and takes time to explain the nuances of the character. I had always hoped to work with him and this opportunity gave me more than what I’d hoped for.

Do you share screen space with Trisha in Hey Jude?

No. I don’t have any scenes with her. My acting parts are mainly with Nivin, Siddique sir, and Neena Kurup.

Nobody actually knows that you used to dub for movies and that you have also been a playback singer. Can you tell us about it?

I have done only very little work in dubbing. My first opportunity was with Thattathin Marayathu when I got a call to dub for Isha Talwar, and I have also dubbed for her in Bangalore days. Subsequently, I dubbed for Thira (Dhyan Sreenivasan’s sister’s character), and Jacobinte Swargarajyam (Reba John). When it comes to singing, Ganesh, the director of Aanandham - who is also my best friend – wanted me to be a part of the film in some way. That’s how I gave singing a try.

Vineeth Srinivasan has played a big role in your film career. Tell us more about it…

My career in movies started with Vineeth ettan. I have acted with him, dubbed in his movies,  and sang with him in Aanandham. He is a very down-to-earth person, and doesn’t pressurise when it comes to work. It’s a very comforting environment while working with him.

What are your upcoming projects?

I shall begin shooting for one film in December. There are a few more in the pipeline.

Are you planning to continue doing movies?

I am a lawyer basically and am working for the UN. I will take up an assignment if I get good characters. But I will always be active in modelling.

You are a ‘Kochiite’. What change do you wish to see in Cochin?

A lot of young people like me are seeking opportunities for education and career outside for lack of suitable options in Kochi. I wish this situation changes and we are able to come back home with better chances.
