It’s time to revolt against the ban

It’s appalling, the kinds of bans that pop up now. After the Beef Ban, BJP MLC Ramesh Arora from Jammu and Kashmir, now thinks that momos are the "The root cause of several life-threatening diseases, including cancer of the intestine.” This conclusion is apparently based on the fact that these yummy, lip-smacking hot package of goodness contains Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). Momo’s are a common snack commodity found on the streets, especially in North India, for it’s something to help deal with the cold weather there.

If you want to protest against the alleged Momo Ban, here are the best momo joints in Kochi, for you to show some love for something that’s on it way to becoming India’s national food!

Big Fat Momo, Kacheripady

A common hangout spot for students from St Albert’s, Big Fat Momo has got a large variety of momos you can try. Their latest one had an Italian twist to it, with lots of Cheese! Their schezwan chicken momos are quite popular. The place has a nice ambience with peppy music and outdoor seating.

Shifu’s Momo, GCDA Shopping Complex, Panampilly Nagar

You better hurry over to Shifu’s or else chances are they’ll run out of stock and you’ll be left with nothing but a craving stomach and a watering mouth. They’ve got the simple steamed momos, the schezwan momos, fried momos and chow mein. They’ve recently added pasta to their menu, but their momos are the crowd pleaser.

Wow Momos, Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road

They’ve got the usual momos. They also have chocolate momos. Yes, that’s right. Gooey chocolate inside a momo! The rates here are a bit steeper, but hey, it’s all worth it for momos! Their ambience is good, and the interaction with customers is also pleasant.

Tibetan Chef’s Restaurant, Fort Kochi

Pick a weekend, head over to Fort Kochi, explore the place, and then when your stomach rumbles, head over to Tibetan Chef’s Restaurant near Santa Cruz Basilica for all things Tibetan! This place serves authentic Tibetan cuisine that’s completely lip-smacking. Tibetan Chef’s is frequented by locals and tourists alike. A modest place, this place believes in serving up a storm, rather than focusing on interiors and decor.

Ming’s Dumpling House, Marine Drive

A must try if you’re anywhere near Marine Drive. This small outlet has a lovely ambience with affordable rates and a great customer service. The only disadvantage of this location is that parking is a little hard to find, especially for four wheelers. Their menu is limited, and the best bet is on their Dragon Momo’s which is tasty and moist.

So which location do you plan on heading to first?
