Coming from the streets of North India, kulfis and ice creams have always been a crowd favorite for the nostalgia it invokes of good ol' times in Bombay.. Memories of children rushing to the ice-cream stalls to buy their favorite ice creams and kulfis, are still fond. But these days, everyone prefers their malls to a street vendor.  But a new change came in the city as Kerala’s first kulfi outlet has finally arrived. Bombay kulfi opened its first outlet at Kathrikadavu. Meet Subin Thomas, co-owner of Bombay Kulfi, here in Kochi, as he talks about the success of the dessert shop in the city.

Are you crazy about ice creams and kulfis?

Yes, I was crazy about ice creams and kulfis right from my childhood and they have been an addiction to me.

Why did you decide to start Bombay Kulfi here in Kochi?

The concept of an exclusive Kulfi outlet actually never existed in Kerala, so we mulled it over and finally decided to start an outlet in Kerala.

Why do you think people in Kochi would love Bombay Kulfi?

We sell kulfis and ice-creams made with pure milk. Due to the quality and taste, people in Kochi would love Bombay Kulfi. That’s our style of spreading happiness through our products.

With more desserts coming up in the city, did you think that kulfis could become such a great success in the city?

We thought it would take some time for Bombay Kulfi to be noticed ,but the initial response itself has been excellent.

What is your favorite flavor?

My personal favorite flavor is Malai. We also have Natural ice-creams so in that my all-time favorite is Guava Chilly.

The favorite flavor which people order mostly?

The flavor which people order mostly is Malai. This flavor gets over everyday within a short span of time.

How has the response been till now?

We got a huge response within Kochi. Customers are coming down from Calicut, Kasargod and even Thrissur.

Which is the most popular flavor in the city?

There are kulfis named after popular Bollywood movies and that are the most popular flavors in the city. There’s Rangeela- which has four flavors in a single stick and the other one is Sholay- with three flavors in one stick. People love these two flavors a lot.

The shop has a variety of natural and seasonal flavors to choose from, starting from tender coconut to nutty caramel and a lot more. The chai masala flavor has flavors of spices like cardamom and lets you indulge in it. Picking what flavor to have is quite a difficult job and the fast-moving malai kulfi apparently sells out every day as soon as it arrives.

So, let it melt onto your taste buds and refresh the childhood memories. Head to Bombay Kulfi in Kaloor Kathrikadavur rod to enjoy these melt in your mouth dessert which offer an explosion of flavours and textures.
