This bowl of deliciousness is a must try

Anyone who’s ever been to Hyderabad will swear by the deliciousness in a bowl that is Haleem. Haleem is basically a stew made of  meat, lentils and pounded wheat made into a thick paste. It is originally an Arabic dish and was introduced to the Hyderabad State by the Chaush people during the rule of the Nizams.
 
The dish is synonymous with Ramadan, as it is widely available all over the city during the month. In recognition of its cultural significance and popularity, in 2010, it was granted Geographical Indication status (GIS) by the Indian GIS registry office, making it the first non-vegetarian dish in India to get this status. Traditionally, Hyderabadi haleem is cooked on a low flame of firewood for up to 12 hours in a bhatti ( a cauldron).
 
In terms of popularity, 5 billion worth of Hyderabadi haleem was sold in the city during the 2014 Ramadan season. Mouths are watering by now, I know. I’m sure you’d want to try the Haleem now. But, no, you don’t really have to go all the way to Hyderabad for a bowl of Haleem, you’ll get it right here, in Kochi.

Head over to Momo Cafe if you want a costlier version of the Haleem. It’s on the way to the Airport, so if you guys are short on time, then maybe this is the place for you to pick up a Haleem before you board your flight. Please note that Haleem is available here only during dinner.
