KMRL softening hearts with their decisions and gestures

Metro not only marks a change in the scenery of Kochites, it is also a beacon of radical change in the state and in the country. The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has been trending in the news for a while now with its decisions and policies, the latest one making us all go soft inside. Come Sunday, they’re planning to give free rides to special children and inmates of old age homes!

As per a TOI article, the KMRL also plans to have film stars and other celebrities accompany the children on the ride. The aim is to provide an opportunity to people who might not get to ride a Metro by making the services available for them exclusively for a day. "The social welfare department would be giving the list of those eligible for the ride. We would be offering the service as per the list given by the social welfare department," an official was quoted saying as per the TOI article.

The event is set to happen a day after the official inauguration by Prime Minister Modi. He will be riding the Metro from Palarivattom till Pathadipalam on 17th June after inaugurating the Metro at 11 am. Earlier in the news, the KMRL was applauded for its decision to employ 23 Transgenders as part of its staff.
