Metree’s a good place to start

Within days of the launch of Kochi Metro, news of people dirtying Metro and surroundings have come up. So, as an initiative to create awareness on keeping the Metro clean, a Kochi-based organisation called Pure Living has come up with ‘Metree’, to educate people on the importance of keeping the metro clean, as well as our surroundings.
 
Members of the group will distribute leaflets to commuters who come to board metro trains at Palarivattom on Sunday. The leaflets will also see seeds of Agastya tree attached to it and asking people to plant it. The leaflet contains pledge written in both English and Malayalam urging people to keep the Metro trains clean. Meanwhile one side of the leaflet explains on 'Thiruvathira Njattuvela,' an unique phenomenon that marks plentiful rains and farming traditions in Kerala.

 
Lakshmi N Menon of Pure Living says ‘Thiruvathira Njattuvela’ is something that is unique to Kerala and it falls between June 21 and July 5 this year. This is an age-old tradition, but something that the current generation is unaware of. She adds that all of us have a responsibility towards the city and the facilities it offers to us. She also mentioned that around 10,000 leaflets have been printed to be distributed among commuters.

I shall not deface or dirty my Metro, but keep it clean,
I shall protect my Metro from graffiti and destruction,
I won’t let anyone vandalise My Metro and destroy it,
For it is my sweat, my hard work and my tax money,
I shall safeguard it by all means.
A comfy ride, saving time, chugging to a greener future.
Let us be the proud beneficiary of the hard work of thousands.
