The talented and beautiful ladies of the St.Teresa College are back with yet another enlightening event. The final year communicative english students do a public relations campaign as part of their course and this year's version is called Meraki 2017- Discover the Art within You. Meraki is when you love doing something, anything, and so much that you put something of yourself into it. Your essence is forever connected to whatever it is you have done. This is often referred to as our passion. What we do when we want to share ourselves with those we love. We put time, thought, and energy into preparing for these occasions. We leave a piece of ourselves behind. Away from the limitations of modern society to discover, develop and practice your Meraki. Meraki is a home where we redefine life purpose.

This year the Department of Communicative English takes great pleasure in organizing Meraki 2017, An International Workshop on Art in Process for Social Change. In today’s tough and conflict-ridden world, it’s important to recognize the healing power of art that cuts across borders and boundaries to make for a more humane and compassionate world.
Art has the power and potential to help us reflect and enhance our living experience. It is instrumental for communicating as well as generating a quest for personal exploration through self-expression.  The workshop will include sessions on performing and visual arts to empower students to use their creative process to provoke and cultivate positive changes within themselves and in their relations with the outside world.

The session will involve movement, music and multidisciplinary forms.  Being a part of the campaign, the students will contribute towards the creative art programmes of Navjeevan School for Children with Special Needs, Ernakulam. The session will be headed by Edmundo Dos Santos, is a researcher, teacher and clinical supervisor in University of European Graduate School in Barcelona, Spain. He has done extensive research in body movements, dance and visual art as tools of artistic creation and human development.

When going for the workshop, you are encouraged to come without a plan. In this open, fresh and spontaneous state of mind we believe you will create a base for wonderful things to unfold. We want you to trust life to surprise you again. This campaign will totally change your perception towards life, and will enhance your cognitive skills also. The campaign will also include cultural performances by the children of Navjeevan School for Children with Special Needs, Ernakulam.

As the first leg of the event, a charity bake sale was held as part of Mareki 2017. The items included in the sale were chocolate cupcake, red velvet cupcake, bride’s pudding, drinks like blueberry crush and tropical blue crush, chicken sandwich and chicken samosa. Like any bake sale, the event was a great success, after all who can say no to home made favorites?
