The second edition of the Open Mic event held at the Donut Factory on October 1 by Abor Vitae proved Kochi is city of surprises and talent

It’s always great to see people getting a platform to showcase their talent without a fear of competition. This is what Abor Vitae had in mind, when the three friends Athira Niranjana (St Theresa's College), Appu Raveendranath (Sacred Heart College) and Hashir Jaleel (CUSAT) came up with the idea of doing an open mic session for the talented people of Kochi. From solo acts to group acts, from singers to stand up comedians and magicians, the Open Mic witnessed more than 50 performances.

“I’m absolutely surprised to see such a crowd. The entire room is filled with people and the support they show towards the artist who comes up on stage is absolutely amazing. I played along with my friend Benjamin and it felt great. There is a whole lot of talent here and it’s the best place to be if you love doing what you do.” says Bevan Correya, a participant at the Open Mic event.

Hasheer, one of the coordinators said that, “We never expected such a huge crowd for the event and we are extremely happy and had some difficulties due to the huge rush of people. This just shows how much Kochi appreciates an artist and that there are a lot of people in Kochi just waiting to get an opportunity.”
