A new app from the IT capital of Kerala, Share My Time-Kochi, helps you to help others in need.

Kochiites are compassionate people and we all would like to do our bit  for our society. But how? There are many orphanages and old age homes in Kochi, and sometimes we donate money since it is the easiest thing to do. Does money solve everything? These places needs our consideration and empathy. These people need to feel that they indeed do belong to our society. But where do we find the time? How do we know what they need? As part of the IIMK Kochi Campus Social Development Project Initiative, six friends got together to use their expertise to provide a simple solution.

The Appropriate App

The objective of Share My Time - Kochi is to connect orphanages and old age homes in the city of Kochi, to the common man through a mobile application. The purpose is to meet their needs - ranging from books, toys, stationery, dress materials, food items in real time. Their aim is not to facilitate monetary contributions, but to facilitate the meeting of actual physical requirements through the contributions of the common man. Sometimes their need would be to arrange a meal, or maybe they need someone’s help to organize an event/games for the children. Whatever the need,  anyone who has the time, energy and the willingness to help, can be mobilized through this app.

The Dedicated Team

Jitto Abraham Jose, Vivek Lohidakshan, Atul Thomas, Vinaya R, Varghese P.S., and Sunilkumar O.G under the mentorship of IIMK professors has developed the Share My Time- Kochi mobile app with Inmeik Technologies Pvt Ltd. Within two weeks of its launch, the response has been much more than the team, including a scientist, a vice president and IT professionals, expected. Over 12 orphanages and old age homes have registered for their needs on the app with over 150 people registering to help.  Share My Time – Kochi is a philanthropic project and the satisfaction of fulfilling the requests of the needy is indescribable according to these friends. The team has also taken it up on themselves to familiarize the institutions on how to use the app. Being busy individuals themselves, the gang says that the app has helped them to plan and address needs directly, instead of always wanting to help but never finding the time. The team has already fulfilled many orders since its inception in early March, 2016. Share My Time-Kochi is currently available in Google Play Store and the crew is already planning to move onto the next phase.
