Ask anyone and they will agree, summer evenings are best spent at the seashore, making sand castles and feeling the sand between your toes, and wind in your hair. If you live in Kochi, head down to these beaches to have summer fun on the beach.
Fort Kochi
If you are looking for a quick get away from the city of Kochi, head on down to Fort Kochi beach to enjoy the wind and the view. This beach has a walkway perfect for contemplative walks along the beach. The chance to go into the water or to make sand castles is not easily possible as it is usually crowded.

Cherai Beach
Located near north paravur, Cherai beach is a long stretch of sandy shores thronged with street food stalls and kite vendors. The beach is clean and well maintained. This beach is perfect for families to build sandcastles, or get a little drenched in the waves, but the crowd is increasing each day.

Kuzhuppilly Beach
Barely 3kms from Cherai Beach, Kuzhuppilly beach is a well-kept secret. This beach is a calm stretch of sand and umbrellas with thatched roofs. This is the spot to head to if you value your privacy and is in dire need of solitude.

Munambam Beach
Situated at the northern end of Cherai Beach, Munambam beach is surrounded by Arabian Sea and Periyar River. A visit to this beach is a way to have a glance into the life of local fishermen, and to enjoy a magnificent sunset.

Puthuvype Beach
A beach located on the end of the Vypeen Island, Puthuvype beach is known for its picturesque view and its lighthouse. The lighthouse is barely half a kilometre from the beach and is one of the tallest in India. The access is restricted to 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.
