The Park located in the heart of the city is ready to restore sculptures with financial aid from CSL
Subhash Park, located in the heart of the city is ready for the restoration of sculptures with the support of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). The estimated budget, 20 lakhs will be offered by CSL for restoration work which also includes improvement in landscapes, a 10 day-camp and arrangements for artists and lighting.
The Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development will coordinate the work. The restoration process will begin next year in the month of February.
Though the park was subjected to major renovation in 2015, the sculptures remain damaged in some parts of the park. The creative works of 14 eminent artists who participated in the first international symposium of sculptors in 1990 are displayed in the park. Every sculpture displayed needs a better and separate plan for restoration.
As said earlier, the plan includes a mini art camp, where the artists will rework and repair the sculptures.
