The Urban Soul Souk, taking place in Rotary Club Bal Bhavan at Panampilly Nagar has kickstarted with a bang on Saturday with a wide variety of fashion, accessories, home decor and food stalls. The inaugural ceremony was honoured by Ms Roopa George, a renowned classical dancer and social entrepreneur. This fashion and lifestyle exhibition has set up its third monsoon edition with a vision of social empowerment and bringing about a better and wider space and exposure to upcoming brands and enterprises.

The exhibition would last from 11 am to 8 pm on July 7 and July 8. Strolling through the exhibition space and interacting with the sellers and entrepreneurs gave us a better view of it. The apparel section was represented by brands like Ashima Bhan, Kriti, Elegantz, Cotton Mill, 6 Yards, Milanz, Mariam, Shivani dress Galerie, Loukya, Artees, Cloth Stories and much more. Be it handmade or natural and ethically made, each brand had a story to tell through their collection which makes them stand out.

Raji Nandakumar of Srishti jewellery brand told us how the brand is synonymous with being earthy and how through the process they encourage employment and active participation women. The great response from the earlier editions of Soul Souk has given such brands a reason to come back for the monsoon edition as well. Diyah collections, Tripthi handicrafts and Lagan were some of the jewellery brands that adorned the exhibition space.

Bringing you mouth-watering cakes, cupcakes and yummy chocolates Marie Ann and Casa Cioccolata are here to quench your sweet tooth cravings. Social enterprises like Planet Earth, Bodhini and BEAD give an insight about the agenda of serving the society with a purpose. These sellers who run their business on a sole social empowerment motif is worth a salute! Home decor brands like Wudapple, Mayee's and Krish Glass Crafts provided the space with an exquisite ambience. Stationary brands Creations and Classmates gave their share of active participation in the crowd.

One brand that stood out in the crowd would definitely be Ny's by Leena George showcasing a wide variety of upcycled home decor products from bottles to hangings all handmade and unique. Not to forget the 'Frozen in Nature' collection by Deepa for Diyah collection and exquisite European art of decoupage and sospeso redefined by the brand Kochark. "An evening filled with excitement awaits both the days with some fun-filled stand-up comedy and some musical performances", promises Lekshmy, the mastermind behind this exhibition. If you are looking for creative and entertaining weekend, head straight to Panampilly Nagar!
